About us
In 1780, some six generations ago, Thomas Collett bought Manor Farm and our farming story began. Over the years the farm has undergone many changes but is still run by the family. With a passion for wildlife and
conservation we have encouraged the preservation of the Barn Owl whose population has severely declined since the 1930's.
In recent years we have ensured the continued protection of the hare population for future generations to enjoy. Our farmland birds including the Lapwing and Skylark continue to thrive. We only use the best quality seeds and truly understand how to bring you closer to nature.
For those of our customers who have visited before – We are still the same family run business producing great quality, wild bird seeds and mixes. By the way, we have chosen the
Robin as our logo, to represent the friendly qualities all our past customers keep praising us for.
As Britain’s favourite bird we hope we will also become your favourite bird food company too!
For new customers visiting our site for the first time – Welcome to David's that produce the highest quality bird seed. Over 70% of the crops that we use in the mixes come from carefully selected eastern
region farmers for use in our wild bird food. When you buy from us – you are buying UK grown*, home produced seed which hasn’t travelled
half way around the globe to get to you!!
We believe this makes us different from most other bird food companies which import the majority of their seeds from foreign countries as far a field as India and China for selling-on. At David's we try to minimize this fact and try where possible to source from the eastern region.
Our seed mixes are very well nutritionally balanced – based on our family's wealth of experience since 1780. Over the years the farm has undergone many changes but it still remains under family control. A family have always been passionate about the wildlife and conservation on their land. My father Roy was one of the first to start growing Sunflowers locally here in Huntingdonshire. In recent years the preservation of the hare has been our main concern, having been the subject of illegal coursing attempts. Thanks to the local farmers and gamekeepers it continues to survive.
Our farm is a haven for native wild birds and wildlife. Recently we recorded seeing over 50 different birds on the farm. We have increasing populations of Skylarks, Goldfinches and English Partridge -great
indicators that they are certainly thriving on Manor farm. We hope the start of our Barn Owl nest box project will continue to preserve the resident barn owls for our future generations.
Happy Birding!
David
*= Where possible, we try to source as much of our bird seeds from easten region farmers. However Some products like peanuts may have been imported.
