The skinner family has been making animal foods for seven generations but it was the idea of the current Chairman, Roger Skinner, to branch into complete dry dog foods in the early 1970's . Records show that the Mill in Stradbroke was in existence as far back as 1688. However their long history does not mean that they are trapped in the past: Their mills at Stradbroke are among the most sophisticated manufacturing plants in the country. Skinners manufacture all their ingredients at their site, enabling them to monitor the quality of ingredients and finished product very carefully. They know exactly what goes into their products and they only select the finest natural ingredients.
Skinner's foods are tried, tested and trusted by a wide variety of professionals and enthusiasts alike, with many of the top show dogs, agility and obedience dogs , police dogs and racing husky teams benefiting from the quality that Skinner's foods provide. This continues to date, with many of the country's top handlers and trainers feeding and recommending their foods.

In the early 1980's due to customer demand, Skinner's in conjunction with their nutritionists developed a range of dog foods to suit a wider range of dietary needs. Ruff & Ready instantly became a huge success, not only with working dogs, but customers with show dogs and pet dogs alike
In the early 1990's Skinners launched their Field & Trial range now comprises of eight specifically formulated diets, including the recent addition of the two very popular Hypoallergenic foods, namely Duck & Rice and Salmon & Rice.P> |
