"A Live Colony of Native Bumble Bees"

The Beepol Lodge, a live, moveable colony of native pollinating bumble bees (species: Bombus, Terrestris and Audax) for the garden, orchard, vegetable plot, or simply for education and interest.

Purchasing the Beepol Lodge comes complete with a voucherfor a colony into your wooden lodge and open a small inner door, soon the worker bumble bees will be out to investigate and shortly afterwards will get active in your garden.

Bumble bees are great pollinators and will increase your fruit, vegetable and flower crops, they are widely used in commercial horticulture for this purpose. They can be working in poor dull weather when other bees are not around. They are the most popular of bees.

The Lodge features an inner doorway which can be set to allow only incoming bees, thus, if required, allowing movement of the hive at night to a new pollinating area. In the late autumn the workers will die off and new queens will overwinter underground. Replacement colonies for the Beepol Lodge are available annually.

The Wildlife World Bumble Bee Nester is constructed from thick durable timber (Cedar/Larch/Pine). It is very important that nesting bees are kept dry.

The NEW sliding lid can be opened to reveal an internal viewing window (removable). Vent holes are provided for good air flow. The floor runners help lift the box and reduce moisture.

The Top Bar Homebee Hive provides a simple way of beekeeping for all the family with minimum intervention, possibly only taking honey after the winter from any excess store. 

When you talk to bee keepers or go on a beekeeping course then will soon find out that beekeepers all have their own views and prefered methods. This Pollinating Bee Log is the natural home for Mason Bees and other Solitary Bees as well as a variety of over wintering insects. Vital for pollinating fruit, vegetables, herbs and flowers, these bees are non swarming and non aggressive and are safe with children and pets. The Log is designed to give good insulation (does not require moving inside in winter) and is filled with natural nesting tubes for the bees. SITING - The Log can be hung on a wall or from trees, pergolas or pole systems with the special strengthened seagrass hanging ropes. Position in a warm place near nectar sources to catch the morning sun. Ideally 3ft to 7ft high (up to 3 mtrs).
